Experience:

With over two decades of construction experience and more than 300 hours of continuing education, Carl Babin has a wealth of background and knowledge about the home-building process and home structure.

"Continuing education is the most important aspect of being a home inspector," Carl says. "It's a commitment I've made to myself and to my clients; I actively pursue knowledge so that my clients have the best, most accurate information available in their inspections."

Being a member of the Georgia Association of Home Inspectors (GAHI) since 2002 has been invaluable resource for Carl as an inspector.

"I took a four-month building code course provided by GAHI.  The instructor was a premier home inspector, and the course was superb. I had years of experience in new home construction to go along with the code course and the issues involved were familiar to me. After passing a six-hour test to become IRC certified, I continued on to pass another six-hour test on commercial and residential codes. After that, I passed an additional three-hour residential electrical inspector test."

Those courses are not all required to be a home inspector in the state of Georgia, but Carl is committed to having the most information available. He also regularly meets with several other local home inspectors to discuss the issues found in recent inspections and to discuss code changes and protocol.

"I am well aquainted with the construction process, having been a trim carpenter and deck builder in new homes for years. I know what sub-contractors, builders and homeowners go through during the construction process. One of my job duties in my construction career was to complete punch lists to finish homes and to correct issues found by municipal inspectors."

Carl continues to attend courses and pursue learning, education which directly and positively impacts his clients.
